Dr. Qing Cao is the Jerry Rawls Endowed Professor of Management
Information Systems at the Rawls College of Business, Texas
Tech University. He holds a Ph.D. from the College of
Business Administration at the University of Nebraska (2001)
and he also earned an MBA (University of Wisconsin System)
and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (Shanghai JiaoTong
University). Dr. Cao has combined 8 years of industrial
experiences in engineering, operations management and IT
consulting before entering the academic field in 1997.
Before joining Texas Tech fall, 2008, he was an associate
professor of Management Information Systems at University of
Missouri - Kansas City. Dr. Cao
has also served as a business
consultant to multi-national corporations and healthcare
systems (e.g., Sprint, Honeywell, YRC Worldwide Inc., and
St. Luke's Hospital Systems).
Dr. Cao has taught courses in Management Information
Systems, Systems Analysis, Design & Engineering,
Quantitative Methods, and Operations Management at both
graduate (e.g., Executive MBA & MBA) and undergraduate
levels. Dr. Cao is the recipient of the University of
Missouri - Kansas City Teaching Award (2007).
He is currently teaching Information Technology for Managers
(ISQS 5231) for both traditional and working professional
MBA programs and Doctoral Seminar in Managerial and
Organizational MIS/OM Research (ISQS 7347). Dr. Cao's research interests include IT governance, IT
diffusion and adoption, supply
chain information management, strategic alignment and artificial intelligence
applications. Dr. Cao is a member of Association for
Computing Machinery, Association for Information Systems,
and Decision Sciences Institute. Dr. Cao is the recipient
of the University of Missouri - Kansas City Trustee's
Faculty Research Award (2005). Dr. Cao has
published more than 39 research papers in top business
journals
such as Journal of Operations
Management, Decision Sciences, Journal of
Association for Information Systems, Communications of ACM,
International Journal of Production Research, Decision
Support Systems, IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and
Cybernetics, Information and Management, European Journal of

He also has written and presented more than 60

Dr. Cao is an Assistant Director
of the Center for Internet Buyer Behavior
at the Rawls College of Business, Texas Tech University.
Dr. Cao serves as a member of the editorial review board at
Journal of Information Technology Management, Computer & Operations Research,
International Journal
of Information Systems and Change Management,
International Journal of
Service Sciences, International Journal of Information and
Operations Management Education, and International Journal
of Information Technology and Management.
Dr. Cao served as
the Associate Program Chair at 2008
Decision Sciences Institute Annual
Meeting.
Dr. Cao co-authored a scholarly book titled "E-commerce
operations and information systems management"
and three scholarly book chapters on software complexity
metrics, IT vendor selection, and IT outsourcing.
